John B. Woods, M.D., is an internal medicine physician specializing in personalized medical care of the adult patient. He has a particular interest in managing cardiovascular disease risk, including treating high blood pressure, high cholesterol and adult diabetes.
Dr. Woods is board certified in internal medicine. He is a graduate of Memphis State University (now University of Memphis). He received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. His internship and residency in internal medicine were at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, where he also served as Chief Resident in 1993-1994. Dr. Woods has practiced internal medicine in Jackson since 1994.
As your primary care physician, Dr. Woods describes his role in your care as that of a "health care quarterback," in that he coordinates your total care with the other members of your health care team. Dr. Woods and his staff are dedicated to personalized care. Dr. Woods is a West Tennessee native. He was born and raised in McNairy County, Tennessee. Dr. Woods is married to Mary Kaye and has 3 children. Dr. Woods is an ordained deacon at West Jackson Baptist Church, where he currently teaches an adult Sunday school class. He also serves as a member of the board of trustees of Union University, and is an active supporter of Union's Annual Scholarship Banquet, Birth Choice of Jackson, and Jews for Jesus. He is passionate about his faith, his family, and his freedom, and enjoys reading and politics. |
